Key Information

The Business

The Networking People (TNP) is a specialist provider of network Technology, connectivity, and cybersecurity services, supporting mission-critical environments across the UK public sector. Headquartered in Lancaster, the business has developed a reputation for designing, implementing, and managing high-performance, secure networks that underpin essential public services—from local government and education, to healthcare and emergency response.

Founded in 2011, TNP has grown by combining deep technical expertise with a customer-first mindset. Every solution is tailored to the specific needs of the organisation, with reliability, responsiveness, and security at the heart of delivery. In an increasingly digital and connected public sector, TNP plays a crucial role in ensuring that networks are resilient, data is protected, and services stay online—no matter what.

Why We Invested

YFM Equity Partners identified TNP as a resilient, high-integrity business serving a sector undergoing rapid change. As public sector organisations face increasing cybersecurity risks and rising expectations around digital service delivery, demand is growing for specialist partners who can help them modernise infrastructure without compromising on performance or security.

TNP is led by Managing Director Scott Daniels and Technical Director Robin Williams—two long-standing leaders with a deep understanding of both the technology and the market. Together, they’ve built a business with trusted customer relationships, a strong technical foundation, and a clear vision for scalable, sustainable growth.

Our investment supported a management buyout and the appointment of Nigel Redwood—former CEO of managed cloud services provider Nasstar—as Chair. Nigel brings a wealth of experience in scaling technology businesses and professionalising go-to-market strategies, adding further strength to an already capable leadership team.

Growth Potential

YFM’s investment will help unlock the next chapter of growth for TNP, focused on four key areas:

  • Product & Service Development: Expanding existing service lines and developing new propositions to meet evolving customer needs, especially in cybersecurity and cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Geographic & Sector Reach: Extending TNP’s footprint beyond its northern heartland and reaching new segments within the broader public and quasi-public sectors.
  • Go-to-Market Acceleration: Strengthening the sales and marketing function to support increased outreach, improve visibility, and deepen client engagement.
  • Operational Scale-Up: Investing in systems, people, and processes to support sustainable, professionalised growth as the business continues to scale.

The Future of Secure Public Sector Networks

Connectivity has become a foundation for how public services operate. As demand for always-on, secure digital infrastructure intensifies, the need for trusted network partners is more important than ever.

TNP is already delivering that trust—supporting organisations where the stakes are high, and the tolerance for downtime is zero. With a strong team, loyal customer base, and a clear growth plan, TNP is ideally positioned to lead the way in building the resilient networks of the future.

At YFM, we’re proud to support TNP’s ambition and to play a part in shaping the future of secure, scalable public sector infrastructure.
