Key Information

The Business

Unified communications software provider focused on Microsoft integration.

Sipsynergy began as a Hampshire-based cloud voice and unified communications provider serving SMEs within the Cisco ecosystem. As the market evolved, the business pivoted toward Microsoft-aligned solutions, and later evolving into middleware to connect telephony networks on various platforms and enabling largescale automated provisioning to improve efficiency and simplify administration.

Why We Invested

YFM supported Sipsynergy across multiple funding rounds to help reposition the business in response to rapid change within the unified communications market and to support development of their new product.

Growth Story

Following YFM’s investment, the unified communications market experienced significant structural change, accelerated by Covid-driven shifts in collaboration technology and increased competition across the ecosystem. In response, the business undertook a fundamental reset evolving its product strategy, leadership and target market to align with emerging enterprise needs.

With YFM’s support, Sipsynergy:

  • Pivoted technology focus
Transitioned from a Cisco-centric voice provider toward platform agnostic middleware and enterprise provisioning solutions.
  • Developed enterprise-grade products
Built integration technology designed to solve complex provisioning and connectivity challenges for large organisations adopting Microsoft and other collaboration tools.
  • Repositioned the commercial model
Shifted toward a systems-integrator-style approach aligned with changing customer demand and partner ecosystems.

Exit

Sipsynergy was acquired by 8×8, a US-based unified communications and cloud services provider seeking to strengthen its middle-office integration capabilities, accelerate cross-selling across its installed base and strengthen its proposition.
