YFM wins Private Equity Firm of the Year

The Thames Valley Deal Awards 2021 were held on Wednesday night at the Royal Berkshire Conference Centre in Reading, hosted by TV presenter Mark Durden-Smith and sponsored by UBS. The event celebrates the region’s leading investors, lenders and corporate finance firms. The winners of the 14 awards were chosen by a panel of judges as well as an audience vote on the night. The ceremony also raised funds for a worthwhile cause, the charity Brain Tumour Research.

YFM Equity Partners were named Private Equity Firm of the Year with David Wrench and Jamie Roberts accepting the award on behalf of the team (pictured). The win reflects the growing YFM investment in Thames Valley over the last 18 months such as the opening of a new Reading office and the promotion of David Wrench to Partner. YFM now boasts a four-strong team of partners in the area, including Head of Portfolio, David Bell.

David Wrench commented on the win and YFM’s activity in the region over the last year: “We invest in early-stage, fast-growing technology-focused business and many of these companies haven’t really felt any effects from Brexit, Covid-19, or supply chain issues, especially where their software has been in demand as more people work from home. We also work with clients looking to transition their businesses from the founder to the management team and the pandemic has been a trigger for this type of succession planning. We had a heightened deal flow and our busiest year ever.”
