Walking for David Gee

On Friday 15th May, a team from YFM laced up their boots and took on the Edale Skyline, a 20-mile, seven-peak loop through the Peak District. By the time we crossed the finish line, we’d covered 32km, climbed over 1,050m, logged around 50,000 steps, and done it all in under eight hours.

It was a brilliant day. But more than that, it was the right day.

David was part of YFM for 33 years. He shaped the DNA of this firm, not through grand gestures, but through the kind of quiet, steady kindness that’s hard to put into words but impossible to miss. He loved the hills, and he personally believed in and supported Leeds Mind, an organisation that provides vital mental health support across Leeds.

When we started talking about how to mark his memory in a way that felt true to who he was, this felt right. The hills he loved, raising money for the cause he believed in.
